TNT’s NBA Opening Day Tripleheader Playoff Action Delivers Record-Setting Ratings
TNT’s coverage of the NBA playoffs tipped off with the highest-rated and most-watched Day 1 in Turner’s 27-year history of airing NBA playoffs basketball. The tripleheader on Sunday, April 17 averaged a 2.8 U.S. household rating average, up 27% from a 2.2 for a comparable set of contests last year, 3.29 million homes and 4.54 million watchers.
‘Deadliest Catch’ Continues to Reel in Viewers for Discovery
The Tuesday, April 19 9 p.m. episode of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch earned a 2.56 HH / 2.27 Adults 25-54 AA%, delivering over 3.88 million total viewers. The series was the #1 primetime cable telecast among HH, total viewers, Adults 18+, P/M/W25-54 and P/M18-49 ratings and delivery (excluding the NBA playoffs on TNT).
A&E Series Stores Most Viewers
Sunday’s episode of Storage Wars set a series high for the A&E show. The April 17 episode at 9:30 p.m. drew 3.8 million watchers on average, according to Nielsen data, supplanting the show’s previous best, the Feb. 9 installment that garnered 3.5 million. The episode was also watched by 1.9 million Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.
History Continues its Ratings Success with Premiere of ‘American Restoration’
History’s premiere of American Restoration on April 15 delivered in a big way and became the network’s #1 series telecast of all time for a Friday night. The premiere earned 3.3 million total viewers, 1.5 million Adults 18-49 and 1.6 million Adults 25-54. The show also grew roughly 35 percent from its Pawn Stars lead-in among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54.
Nickelodeon’s ‘Supah Ninjas’ Premiere Averages 3.1 Million Viewers
Nickelodeon’s Supah Ninjas bowed with 3.1 million total viewers and was the number-one program in time period (8:30 p.m.) across all TV with its target kid and tween demos. The half-hour episode also posted double-digit increases over last year’s like time period, averaging a 4.8/1.7 million K2-11 (+37%), 6.3/1.4 million K6-11 (+37%) and 5.0/1.1 million T9-14 (+35%).
‘TV Land Awards’ Draws 2 Million Viewers
The ninth annual TV Land Awards show set an audience viewing record with 2 million watchers and posted a 20% audience increase over last year’s edition, according to network officials. Within TV Land’s core 25-54 audience the show averaged 856,000 viewers, an increase of 16%. Also the 503,000 Women 25-54 who tuned in was up 30% from last year.
Oxygen ‘Love Games’ Premiere Posts Huge Gains
The season two premiere of Love Games earned 713,000 Adult 18-49 viewers, 397,000 Women 18-34 viewers and 1.25 million total viewers. Compared to the prior four week time period average, the season premiere of Love Games Season 2 was up +126% with Adults 18-49, +166% on a total viewer basis and +122% among Women 18-34.
NHL Playoffs: Versus Nets Best Opening-Night Audience
Versus found the back of the ratings net with its opening coverage of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The exclusive national cable home of the NHL averaged 534,328 viewers for its April 13 tripleheader, Versus’ best opening postseason night in its six years of coverage, according to Nielsen data. The delivery was 12% above the first night of the 2010 playoffs.
