My view from the cubicle: July 1, 2011
I spent Friday night with my new guilty pleasure, Dual Survival which airs right now for 3 hours straight on Friday nights, starting at 7pm Eastern! This show is simply awesome!
Take a similar premise to Man vs. Wild, stranding folks out in the wilderness and have them show you how to survive. Mix one part Cody Lundin, the Minimalist and primitive skills expert and one part Dave Canterbury, the Army-trained scout, sniper, hunter…shake and deposit these two out in the wild and you have the fun that is Dual Survival!
I’m so bummed I just found this show! I have to catch up on the first season, ASAP!
Besides learning survival tips, yes I take notes actually, I love watching Cody and Dave work together. Sometimes they click, other times there’s conflict, usually stemming from a difference in styles.
Cody, as shown in the picture, travels barefoot. This seems to be a running (no pun intended) joke, and source of tension, between the two. Where Cody is a minimalist, Dave is sometimes an extremist- who employs sometimes dangerous methods for gathering food or traversing over, around or through unknown terrain.
Whatever tension arises is always worked out or forgotten in the end, as they find their way out of whatever situation they’re put in. And with three episodes in a row on Friday nights, I highly recommend checking it out. Though be careful if you do, you might be hooked…and then you’ll spend Friday nights with Cody and Dave.
I for one see nothing wrong with that!
